Fiberglass gives the snowboards is structural strength. It is woven in either a bi-axial pattern or tri-axial pattern. Most of our snowboards get tri-axial fiberglass to with stand the rigors of today’s snowboarders. As shown in the image, the fiberglass is placed inside the board, on top of the base material and rubber foil and it sandwiches the wood core. Fiberglass is on of the main components in dictating a snowboards flex. A thicker or higher weight glass will make the board stronger, stiffer and heavier. A lighter or bi-axial material will make the board flex easier and lighter. For this reason it is important to use the right weave and weight to find balance without compromise.
